1. How did Soft Locks Caps & Hats get started?
After being diagnosed with early stage breast cancer at the age of 44, I underwent chemotherapy and radiation which through me into early menopause. I had purchased two wigs before my hair loss but when I wore them they just felt unbelievably hot and itchy. The hot flashes at times were unbearable and I just wanted to rip the hot, itchy wig off of my head. I thought to myself, “there has to be something else I can do to conceal my baldness”. A friend of my mothers sent me two ball caps with blond ponytails. They did not quite match my own hair but my mother and I located some hair pieces that matched my hair color perfectly. I wore those two caps constantly for months until my hair returned and vowed that when I got well, I would do something so that other ladies not have to endure what I went through.

Soft Locks Caps & Hats have been a passion of mine for two years and something I wanted to offer to the public. When I lost my job due to the economy in 2008, I have devoted all of my energy to create a comfortable, affordable, easy to wear product for ladies wanting a sense of normalcy in their lives. 3. Are Soft Locks Caps & Hats only for Cancer Patients?
No. Soft Locks Caps & Hats can be worn by anyone that just wants to “put on a hat and go”. I have sold numerous hats to ladies for “bad hair days”,”to wear while driving their convertibles,” or they “just want to change up their style just a bit”.
4. Do you make hats with hair for men and children?
We normally do not make hats with hair for men. Unfortunately, there is always going to be sick children with cancer until a cure is found. We have made children's “bucket hats” and “ball caps with hair”. If you know a child in need of a hat, please contact our customer service department for assistance.
